As a Bus Driver, you’ll be the guiding star for our young travelers, ensuring their journey is safe, engaging, and full of learning opportunities. You will be accompanied by experienced therapy staff at all times. This is a year-round position with a variety of benefits for all employees, both part-time and full-time.

Our facility uses 8 and 10-passenger vans to transport patients in the Colorado Springs are surrounding area to community outings, pick them up from school and transport to our facility, etc. We also use a 48-passenger bus we use to transport patients to community outings in both Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and the Denver metro area. Patients are accompanied by therapists at all times on company vehicles. The responsibilities of the Driver pertain to maintaining safe and clean vehicles, as well as transport patients and staff to designated outings.

Responsibilities

Transport patients while following safety procedures and applicable rules and regulations.
1. Operate and safely drive a school bus and 12 passenger van in either good or adverse weather, road and traffic conditions while transporting passengers. Comply with traffic regulations while operating vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
2. Communicate bus rules, safety and behavior requirements to passengers while using appropriate interpersonal communication skills.
3. Maintain cleanliness to ensure safe operating conditions.
4. Assist passengers boarding and unloading the bus when necessary, including adaptive equipment.
5. Inspect buses daily to identify and report deficiencies. Perform vehicle maintenance procedures such as fluid and fuel levels, tire pressure checks, clean internal and external areas, install tire chains, and any other normal daily maintenance as required.
6. Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.
7. Responsible to know rules, regulations (Federal, State and Agency) and laws concerning operation of bus; and comply with all traffic regulations.
8. Comply with DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements.
9. Complete all records and reports timely and accurately such as pre-trip, post trip, route logs, mileage, timesheets, etc.
10. Read maps, follow written and geographic directions according to route / trip logs.
11. Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.


Skills & Qualifications

Experience and Skill Requirements
  • Class A or B CDL, OR the ability to obtain.
  • Endorsements: Passenger (P) and School Bus (S).
  • Ability to pass medical examination.
